A fierce fire broke out late Sunday night at the Trauma Center of SMS Hospital in Jaipur. The flames spread rapidly in the ICU ward located on the second floor of the trauma center, after which there was chaos in the hospital premises. 24 patients were present in ICU at the time of the accident. Seeing the flames, the hospital staff and the Timardars outside the ICU ward immediately came into action and started taking out the patients with beds.
In this incident, at least 6 patients died of suffocation and the condition of many others remains critical. Anurag Dhakad, the trauma center in -charge of SMS Hospital, said, ‘There are two ICUs on the second floor at the Trauma Center. A trauma ICU and a semi-ICU. There were 24 patients; 11 trauma at ICU and 13 cm in ICU. The trauma was a short circuit in the ICU and the fire spread rapidly, causing poisonous gases. Most serious patients were in a state of unconsciousness.
The condition of five more patients remains critical
The trauma center in -charge said, ‘Our trauma center team, our nursing officer and ward boy immediately rescued them by loading them on the trolleys and took all the patients out of the ICU, took them to another place. The condition of six of them was very critical; We tried hard to bring him to his senses with CPR, but he could not be saved … Five patients are still serious … There are two women and four men among the dead. The deceased have been identified as Pintu (Sikar), Dilip (thunderstorm), Srinath (Bharatpur), Rukmani (Bharatpur), Khushma (Bharatpur) and Bahadur (Sanganer).
Patients ran away with beds on the road
Timardar (his family or relatives present with the patient) ran out of the hospital with their beds with beds. Many serious patients were immediately shifted to safe places. The video of this incident is viral on social media in which patients on the road outside the SMS hospital are lying on the bed with oxygen cylinder. The hospital administration and fire department teams managed to control the fire after hours of hard work. As soon as the information was received, many vehicles of the fire department reached the spot and the fire was controlled. During this time, local administration and police teams were also present on the spot.
On receiving information about the incident, Rajasthan government minister Kirori Lal Meena and Congress MLA Rafiq Khan reached SMS Hospital late at night and took stock of the situation. After this incident, the investigation of fire safety system has been started in the entire hospital premises. Please tell that the SMS Medical College and Hospital of Jaipur is one of the oldest and major government medical institutions in Rajasthan. This hospital has 6,250 beds and almost all major diseases are treated here.
