Sawai Man Singh Hospital in Jaipur, the capital of Rajasthan, was in a furore at SMS Hospital on Sunday night when there was a strong flame in the ICU. After this fire in the ICU on the second floor of the hospital’s trauma center, the patient and his timber ran out with beds and mattresses to save their lives, but still the fire engulfed 6 people and lost his life.
Fire at 11:10 pm
According to the information, smoke started coming out from the store of the neuro ward on the second floor of Trauma Building at 11.10 pm. The patients informed the hospital staff but by then the smoke started spreading rapidly. Shortly after the ICU, flames started appearing.
It is being told that the ICU was on fire due to short circuit. After this, there was a stampede among the hospital staff and the timbers as soon as the alarm of the fire rushed and all started trying to evacuate their patients safely.
People ran on the road with patients
Timardar rushed his family members with beds, while the hospital management also started shifting patients from other wards. During this time, many fire brigade vehicles reached the spot and after hard work, the fire was controlled.
According to hospital sources, the fire may be caused by a short circuit but it has not been officially confirmed yet. After the fire, the entire trauma center is being evacuated so that the lives of patients and staff are not threatened. During this time, some patients also complained of difficulty in breathing and nervousness, who were immediately shifted to other wards and emergency units.
What did the hospital management say?
However, during this period, at least 6 patients died of suffocation and the condition of many others remains critical. Anurag Dhakad, the trauma center in -charge of SMS Hospital, said, ‘There are two ICUs on the second floor at the Trauma Center. A trauma ICU and a semi-ICU. There were 24 patients; 11 trauma was admitted to ICU and 13 cm-ICU, the trauma was short circuit in ICU and the fire spread rapidly, causing poisonous gases. Most serious patients were in a state of unconsciousness.
After this incident, the hospital management said that the safety of patients is their first priority and the damage caused by the fire will be assessed. This incident has once again raised questions on the security system and fire safety of government hospitals.
