Addressing Congress’s Jai Bapu, Jai Bhim, Jai Constitution rally, Priyanka Gandhi said, “Till date, no government has come whose Home Minister could stand in the Parliament and insult Baba Saheb Ambedkar. There has never been any government whose ministers could go around in the elections and say that we will change this Constitution.”
Taking a dig at RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat without taking his name, Priyanka Gandhi said, “Who could have thought that standing on the soil of independent India, someone could say that we did not get independence in 1947.”
‘Didn’t think the messiah of the poor would be insulted in Parliament’
Priyanka Gandhi further said that no one had thought that the government ministers would talk about weakening the Constitution. The messiah of the poor like Baba Saheb Ambedkar will be insulted in the Parliament. By insulting him, the Home Minister of the country has insulted democracy, insulted the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for freedom and the freedom fighters who sacrificed everything. This is happening because when all the people of the country were involved in the freedom struggle, at the same time an ideology was emerging on the soil of this country. That ideology even then insulted the Constitution and launched a campaign against it.
‘Only the Constitution will protect’
Priyanka Gandhi told the people that weakening the Constitution means weakening the people and democracy. Only the Constitution will keep you safe. Priyanka Gandhi appealed to decide that you will not let this matter be affected. Resolve that you will sacrifice your life but will keep the Constitution safe.
On December 26, on the occasion of centenary of Mahatma Gandhi becoming the Congress President, Congress had held a CWC meeting in Belagavi. Due to the death of former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, the rally scheduled for the next day was postponed, which was organized at the same place on Tuesday, which was also addressed by Congress President Kharge. Rahul Gandhi could not attend it due to poor health. On the occasion of 100 years of Gandhiji becoming the Congress President and completion of 75 years of the Constitution, Congress will organize Jai Bapu, Jai Bhim, Jai Constitution rallies throughout the year at many places in the country. The next rally will be held on January 27 in Mhow, Madhya Pradesh, the birthplace of Baba Saheb Ambedkar. From here, Congress will also start the year-long Save the Constitution National Padyatra.
