22 percent jobs will be lost
The World Economic Forum has released a report regarding jobs and this report has scared working professionals around the world. The name of this report is Future of Jobs. What is the future of your job and whether your job will be saved after 5 years or not, it has been told in this report. According to the report, by the year 2030, i.e. 5 years from now, 39 percent of the skills required for jobs will become outdated. If today you have got a job because of a particular skill, then it is possible that in the next 5 years your skill or your degree or diploma in a particular field will be of no use to you. The world will have gone far ahead of that and that is why by the year 2030, 22 percent of today’s jobs will have completely disappeared.
Threat to jobs like clerk, data entry
Similarly, by the year 2030, 41 percent companies can do large-scale layoffs and fire people. In the next 5 years, 9 crore 20 lakh people of the world will be thrown out of their jobs. Usually, when companies lay off people, new people are hired in their place. But after 5 years, by 2030, the places that will be vacant after retrenchment, will not be used by humans but by AI. If you do any job which can be replaced by AI, like ticket clerk, banking related jobs, administration related work or data entry work, then you need to take big decisions today. Big companies of the world know that it is very expensive to hire separate employees for the work which can be done at nominal cost with the help of AI. In the coming time, Artificial Intelligence will eliminate many types of jobs from their roots.
Jobs of laborers and doctors safe
Now the question is, whose job is secure and who is standing on the verge of unemployment. Understand this with an example. Suppose the jobs of 41 people out of 100 are safe. These will be some special types of jobs like laborers, health workers, delivery people, farming people, software engineers, green energy experts, data specialists, economic advisors or people like engineers associated with the electricity department, there is no need to worry much. Because they will be needed even after five years. There will always be a need for laborers to build buildings, the work which is going to be done physically requires labour. There will always be a need for experts related to health services like doctors and nurses.
Need for new training and job change
To save the jobs of the remaining 59 people out of 100, they will now have to take special training. We will have to bring changes within ourselves and out of these 59 people, 29 will save their current jobs. These will be those people who will somehow save their jobs by learning new skills and taking new types of training. Among these, there will be 19 people who will have to leave their current posts and take up other jobs. Apart from this, 11 people will become completely unemployed who will not be able to change themselves.
In such a situation, if you do a job which can be replaced by Artificial Intelligence, then the time has come that you learn new skills related to your job profile and take new training. Technology is changing very fast, so instead of running away from it, it is wise to keep pace with it. By learning new skills, you will prove yourself more capable than the rest. In this job market, if you work in the auto industry and till now you only make or repair vehicles running on petrol and diesel, then now you should learn some new work related to electric vehicles. Similarly, if you are associated with the oil and gas industry, then the time has come that you should take some new training related to green energy and learn some new work.
New jobs will be available with new skills
People associated with PR or marketing need to learn new marketing skills, for example you can learn social media marketing. If you work in Human Resource Department i.e. HR then you can learn about new AI tools. This will make your work easier and cheaper. You will be able to do better work than others no matter which industry you are associated with. You have to see what changes are coming in that industry due to new technology and accordingly which new skill can you learn. Upgrading oneself with the new working culture is the need of the future and one of the reasons for this is that opportunities for new skilled jobs will also be created in the next five years.
About 8 crore new jobs will also come.
According to the same report of the World Economic Forum, 7 crore 80 lakh new jobs will also come in the market in the next five years.
