JD(U) Withdraws Support In Manipur: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar-led Janata Dal (United) withdrew its support to the Manipur government on Wednesday (January 22, 2025). There is a BJP government in Manipur under the leadership of CM N Biren Singh. According to the report of News18, JDU has formally announced to withdraw its support from Manipur government.
JDU had an alliance with BJP since 2022, but now it has distanced itself from the ruling government. In 2022, five out of six JDU MLAs supported BJP, which further strengthened the position of BJP.
There is no impact on the stability of the government
Despite this move by JDU, there will be no impact on the stability of the Biren Singh-led BJP government in Manipur. BJP has a strong majority in the state assembly and it can remain in power without any interference.
