Chandigarh Grenade Blast Case: In the Chandigarh grenade attack case, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has conducted raids in Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Chandigarh. In September 2024, the house of a retired Chandigarh police officer was attacked with a hand grenade. NIA investigation has revealed that the aim of Khalistani terrorists was to carry out terrorist incidents through the dead drop model.
This raid of NIA has been conducted on the locations associated with Khalistani terrorist organization Babbar Khalsa International. According to NIA, this raid was conducted at the homes of suspects associated with Khalistani terrorist Harpreet Singh alias Happy Paisian, based in America.
The target was to target a retired police officer.
NIA raids have been conducted in Amritsar, Gurdaspur, Bathinda, Ferozepur of Punjab and Lakhimpur Kheri of Uttar Pradesh, Rudrapur and Chandigarh of Uttarakhand. In the raid, NIA has found many mobiles, digital devices and documents, which have been seized. Investigation has revealed that this is a conspiracy of Harvinder Singh Sandhu alias Rinda, sitting in Pakistan, and Harpreet Singh alias Happy Paisian, sitting in America, in which a retired police officer was to be targeted.
Using the Dead Drop Model to Recruit Your Associates in India
Both these terrorists had provided weapons, money and other logistics support to their ground operatives for the terrorist attack. Their conspiracy was to recruit their associates in India and carry out terrorist incidents through the dead drop model.
What is dead drop model?
Dead drop model is a type of espionage technique, which is used to send intelligence information, money, weapons and electronic devices between people. Under this, to drop anything, both sides choose a suitable place agreed upon, so that there is no need for both of them to meet in person.
