A small plane crashed in Northst Philadelphia, after which employees associated with emergency services reached the spot. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) confirmed in a statement that the crashed aircraft LearJet was 55. Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro said that he is offering all state resources to help. Fire officials confirmed that several houses caught fire after the accident in the Cotman Avenue and Roosevelt Bulleward area around 6 pm.
The accident site is less than 3 miles (4.8 km) from the Northeast Philadelphia Airport, where mainly business jets and charter flights are moved. Philadelphia’s emergency management office described the incident as a ‘big incident’ and confirmed the closure of the road in the area.
The National Transport Safety Board (NTSB) said that information about the accident is being gathered. Work is being done to detect the cause behind the accident and ensure public safety.
