Jammu kashmir incidence: A truck driver died in an army firing on Tuesday (4 February) near Sangmaha in Baramulla district of North Kashmir. The incident occurred when the driver allegedly ignored the security forces outpost (Naka). The deceased has been identified as Wasim Ahmed Mir, a resident of Goripora Bomai in Sopore.
The army said in a statement that on 5 February 2025, a mobile vehicle check post (MVCP) was established on the basis of special intelligence information about terrorist activities. When a truck reached the checkpoint at a high speed and was repeatedly warned to stop, the driver ignored it and increased his speed.
Vehicle stopped by shooting on driver’s tires
The security forces chased the driver’s truck and after chasing the vehicle for 23 km, fired on his tires and stopped it at Sangrama Chowk. The driver was injured during the vehicle investigation, which was immediately taken to GMC Baramulla Hospital where he was declared dead.
Senior police officer confirmed the incident
The army said that the completely loaded truck has been taken to the nearest police station, where a detailed search is being done. Security forces are now investigating the background of this truck and driver so that the reason behind the incident can be detected. Confirming the incident, a senior police officer said that a thorough investigation into the claims of the army and the cause of this incident has been started. Officials said that after the investigation process, complete information about the matter will be shared soon.
