The name of online food delivery company Zomato will change soon. The board of the company has approved the change of name. The company’s CEO Deepinder Goyal has given this information in a letter to the shareholders. Although there will be no change in the brand name, this name will remain Zomato. Only the company’s name will be changed and it will be known as Eternal Ltd.
Why was the name of Jomato changed?
Deepinder Goyal said that this decision is a new chapter for the company, because now the company is also expanding business in other sectors ahead of food delivery. He wrote in his letter, ‘When we bought the Blinkit, we started using’ Eternal ‘to differentiate between the company and the brand or app. But it was not publicly announced. We also thought that on the day Zomato, a better future would be seen in business like grocery and ticketing, on that day the name of the company will be changed to Eternal Limited. He said that now it seems that we have reached there with the blinkit.
When Jomato joined BSE Sensex
ZOMATO was included in the top stocks of BSE Sensex on 23 December before the decision to change the name of the company. Then CEO Deepinder Goyal had said that India’s first tech startup to make a place in the Sensex is a proud moment and it is also the time of self -determination, which is also giving a responsible feeling.
What will be changed by changing the name?
The Eaterial Limited will have four types of businesses, including zomato, blinkit, district and hyperpire. Once the shareholders approve this change, the company will convert its corporate website from Zomato.com to Eternal.com and its stock will turn from ZOMATO to Eternal.
What did Goyal say on the word eternal?
Describing Eternal as a powerful but challenging name, Goyal said, ‘It is a difficult task to meet it. Because there are both a promise and a contradiction in the word ‘Eternal’. He said that this is not just to change the name, but is a mission statement. We will stay with our identity.
