A local court in Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh sentenced her husband and her parents to death in a dowry murder case. The fast track court gave this historic verdict on Thursday.
According to the report of the news agency, government lawyer Digambar Singh said that 19 -year -old Farah was murdered in his in -laws on 1 May 2024. Just a year after the marriage, her husband and in -laws were harassing her for dowry. Farah’s husband and his family were demanding a motorcycle in dowry.
All three accused found guilty
The court convicted Farah’s husband Maqsad Ali (25), his father -in -law Sabir Ali (60) and his mother -in -law Mastitan alias Humsiran (55). The three were punished by the court on charges of dowry murder and conspiracy to murder.
Court made strict comments
The court said in its judgment that the mentality to consider daughters as a burden in the society promotes dowry system. The judge warned that if he was soft in such cases, it would promote crime in the society.
The court commented, saying, “Murder for dowry is one of the most heinous crimes, requiring strict action on such incidents, so that the society gets a clear message that the dowry system will no longer be tolerated.” The court sentenced the culprits to death, calling the case ‘rare to rare’. This decision is a warning for the society that those who end innocent lives in the greed of dowry will no longer be spared. Farah’s family welcomed this decision and described it as a ‘victory of justice’.
