Indians in Russian Army Minister of State for External Affairs Kirti Vardhan Singh Gives Details of Death and Missing in Parliament

Indians in russian army: Some Indians are still fighting a war with Ukraine on behalf of the Russian Army. This was confirmed by a reply by Minister of State for External Affairs Kirti Vardhan Singh in Parliament. In fact, Congress MP Rajiv Shukla had asked some questions in this regard, which had questions related to the details of Indian in the Russian army and the government’s preparation to bring them back the country. In response to this question, it was revealed that 18 Indians are still in the Russian army and 16 of them are missing.

Minister of State for External Affairs Kirti Vardhan Singh said in a written reply, ‘The government knows that Indian citizens were admitted to the Russian Army. The Government of India has interacted with the respective Russian officials at various levels including the level of Russia’s President to ensure the safety, welfare and early release of all such persons and their return to India.

Kirti Vardhan said, ‘As a result of the government’s efforts, most Indian citizens involved in the Russian armed forces have already been discharged. According to the information available, there are 18 Indian citizens left in the Russian armed forces, out of which 16 have been reported missing by the Russian side.

‘Bring seven body bodies’
The Minister of State for External Affairs said that the Indian Missions/Centers in Russia have assisted Indian citizens to return to India after their service ends in the Russian armed forces, including the convenience of traveling documents and air tickets as required. The government has also helped in the return of the mortal remains of seven Indian citizens who lost their lives in the struggle. In two other cases, earthly remains were cremated in Russia.

’12 people died’
The Minister of State for External Affairs said that among the 18 Indians in the Russian Army, nine are from Uttar Pradesh, two from Punjab and Haryana and one from Chandigarh, Maharashtra, Kerala, Bihar and Jammu and Kashmir. In response to another question, he said that 12 Indian citizens involved in the Russian armed forces are reported to have lost their lives during the Russia-Ukraine War.

’97 citizens brought back’
The Minister of State for External Affairs also informed that it has been assisted in bringing back 97 Indians who have served in the Russian Army so far. These include 32 of Uttar Pradesh, 14 of Punjab, 12 in Haryana, 8 from Maharashtra, 6 from Delhi, 5 from Bihar, 4 in Jammu and Kashmir and 16 from other states.
