During the Mahakumbh, the number of pilgrims who took a holy dip at the confluence crossed the figure of 40 crores on Friday. This information was given by releasing official data from the Uttar Pradesh government. It said that on February 7, 48 lakh devotees took a dip at the confluence of the Ganges, Yamuna and the mythical Saraswati rivers.

It may be noted that despite the conclusion of three holy Amrit bathing festivals on Makar Sankranti, Mauni Amavasya and Basant Panchami, a large number of Mahakumbh are coming from India and the world to take a holy dip. The state government said that Mauni Amavasya was the most crowded for bathing Amrit, when eight crore devotees took a dip in the Ganges.

During the Amrit bath on Makar Sankranti, 3.5 crore devotees took a dip, while 2.57 crore devotees took a dip in the bath of Basant Panchami. Apart from this, more than two crore devotees took a bath on 30 January and 1 February and more than 1.7 crore devotees took a bath on Paush Purnima.

All political leaders including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Rajya Sabha MP Sudha Murthy and Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav have also bathed in Mahakumbh. At the same time, other personalities including actress Hema Malini and Anupam Kher, Olympic medalist Saina Nehwal and choreographer Remo D’Souza also participated in the bath.

It is known that President Draupadi Murmu will come to Prayagraj to participate in the sacred ritual at the confluence on Monday. The Mahakumbh, which started from 13 January 2025, will conclude on 26 February 2025, ie on Mahashivaratri.
