BCCI has given Diamond Ring Gift to Team India
New Delhi: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has given a diamond ring to every player of Rohit Sharma-led T20 World Champion team. Such royal gifts have not been custom in Indian cricket history. BCCI seems to have taken such initiative on the lines of American Sports League like NBA and NFL.
In Mumbai last week, the BCCI gifted a diamond ring to the players during the Naman Award 2025, it is being called ‘Champions Ring’. In the ring, the names of the players and their jersey number are God, on which the Ashoka Chakra -like figure can be clearly seen.
You will remember that in the final of the T20 World Cup played in the host of Caribbean countries last year, India defeated South Africa and captured the title for the first time since 2007. India did not lose a single match in the entire tournament. This victory was also special because of 12 years after the ICC Trophy came to India, earlier in 2013, Team India captured the Champions Trophy. Then MS Dhoni was the captain of the team.
BCCI wrote in the caption of the video, ‘#Teamindia is being presented their champions ring to honor the brilliant campaign in #T20worldCup. Diamonds can be forever, but this victory is definitely immortal in millions of hearts. These memories will echo loudly and will always be with us. ‘
Within a few hours of becoming T20 champion, three veteran players of India retired. After captain Rohit Sharma, star batsman Virat Kohli, Ravindra Jadeja left his career at a significant turn by retiring from T20 format.
