Iltija Mufti, daughter of former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti, has claimed that she and her mother have been placed under house arrest. The authorities have locks their doors. Iltija has shared a photo of the locks on the closed doors of the house on social media x.
Iltija, claiming the house arrest, wrote- Nothing has changed in Kashmir even after the election. Now comforting the families of the victims is also considered a crime.

Mehbooba Mufti wrote in a post- 25-year-old Makhan Deen, a resident of Perodi, was detained by the SHO of Bilawar on a false charge of being an over ground worker (OGW). He was beaten badly. Tortured. Get forcibly confessed. Due to which he died. The area is sealed. Internet is closed. This has caused panic.
He informed- continuous action is being taken. People are being taken into custody. This incident seems to be a part of the pattern of harassing innocent youths in false charges.
Iltija had also said in a statement- small boys are being raised in Kulgam, Budgam, Ganderbal. I want to ask the government if they are all terrorists. Why are everyone looking at everyone with suspicion. Surprisingly, not a single minister has made any statement about this. Do you have yogurt in your mouth?
Fought for the first time, but Iltija lost
Iltija contested the Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections in October 2024 from Srigufwara-Bizbehra seat. This seat is considered to be the traditional stronghold of the Mufti family. However, Iltija lost by 9,770 votes in this election. In 2019, after the removal of Article 370, when his mother Mehbooba Mufti was detained, Iltija launched a campaign for his release, causing them to make headlines.
