Another member of the Gulf Corporation Council (GCC), an organization of Arab countries, has announced a big investment in India. Qatar’s Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani has announced that he will invest 10 billion dollars i.e. 83 thousand crores in India. This investment will be made in the areas of technology, infrastructure and manufacturing. This visit of Qatar’s rich will help in increasing trade, energy and cultural cooperation between the two countries.
On Tuesday (February 18, 2025), Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, along with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has made several deals on business, energy. By 2030, the Qatar Investment Authority will also open its office in India.
There was a comprehensive talks between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Qatar’s Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hammad al-Sani. During this time, the two countries committed to doubling bilateral trade from US $ 14 billion to US $ 28 billion in the next five years and announced to take relations to the level of strategic partnership.
Here in the presence of PM Modi and Amir, both sides also signed two agreements. The first agreement is to establish a strategic partnership while the second is to avoid revised double taxation.
The two sides also signed five consent letters (MOUs) to strengthen the economic partnership, management of archives and intensify relations in areas such as youth affairs and sports. Last year, during PM Modi’s visit to Qatar, India signed a $ 78 billion agreement to increase LNG imports from Gulf country by 2048.
Saudi Arabia is a member of the fifth Gulf Corporation Council (GCC) after the United Arab Emirates, Oman and Kuwait, with India signed a strategic partnership agreement.
