Congress MLA Devendra Yadav was arrested from Supreme Court, arrested in Balodabazar violence case

Congress MLA Devendra Yadav from Bhilai, who is lodged in Raipur Jail, has got a big relief from the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court has directed him for bail, but despite this, the Congress MLA will have to stay in jail till Friday (2 February 2025). Devendra Yadav will be able to come out of jail only after the bail process is completed.

On 10 June 2024 last year, the SP and Collector Office was burnt by the people of Satnami society to protest against the demolition of Jaitkham of Satnami society. In this case, a case was registered on Congress MLA Devendra Yadav for inciting the mob and supporting the agitators, after which he was arrested on 17 August 2024. Now documents of the instructions given by the Supreme Court in this case will be presented in Balodabazar Court.

On what basis the MLA gets bail

On behalf of Congress MLA Devendra Yadav, who reached the Supreme Court on the bail plea, his lawyer said, “On the day of Balodabazar violence, Congress MLAs had only attended the meeting, during this time neither he climbed the stage nor gave any speech.” In such a situation, it cannot be said that the Congress MLA tried to incite the crowd.

Devendra Yadav’s lawyer further said that there is a lot of difference between the involvement in the protest and the time of the violent incident. The MLA’s lawyers argued that the MLAs were not present at the place where the violence took place, nor was they arrested from a chance, but they were arrested several kilometers from the scene from his residence in Bhilai. The lawyers called the police action completely wrong and motivated by politics.
