Abbas Ansari Case Advocate Kapil Sibal Up Government Asg M Nataraj Argument in Supreme Court Gangster Act Case

Indicating relief to MLA from Mau in UP, Abbas Ansari, the Supreme Court has asked to complete the investigation of the case registered against him in 10 days. The court has asked the investigating officer to file a status report. A bench of Justices Surya Kant and N. Kotishwar Singh has said that he will take a decision on the release of Abbas after watching the report.

Senior advocate Kapil Sibal, appearing for Abbas, son of gangster and politician Mukhtar Ansari, argued that he had got bail in 10 cases. Even after getting bail in all the cases, he has been in jail for 5 months only due to this case. He also said that Abbas has been kept in Kasganj jail, far away from his area.

Additional Solicitor General KM Nataraj appeared for the UP government. He described the allegations against Abbas as serious. He also said that in the case in which bail is being sought, 4 co-accused are still absconding. On this, Kapil Sibal said that it cannot be the basis for keeping anyone in jail for indefinite time.

The judges instructed to complete the status report in 10 days. Sibal requested for a hearing after 8 days and said that Ramadan is starting from March 1. There should be a considering on release of the petitioner. But the judges did not comment on this request.
