New Delhi. There is less than a month left to start IPL 2025 but the captain of defending champion Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) has not been selected yet. This race includes Ajinkya Rahane to Venkatesh Iyer. All -rounder Venkatesh Iyer says that if he gets a chance in IPL 2025, he is ready to lead KKR. KKR’s team will take on Royal Challengers Bangalore in the first match of this IPL 2025. It is believed that in the long -term planning of captaincy, Iyer can leave his senior Rahane behind.
KKR won the title under the captaincy of Shreyas Iyer in the last session but did not retain him for this season. In the IPL auction, Punjab Kings bought Shreyas and made him their captain. Meanwhile, Venkatesh told ‘ESPNcricinfo’, ‘Sure, I am ready. I have always said that captaincy is just a tag. I believe in leadership. If I get a chance, I would definitely like to take this responsibility.
Venkatesh Iyer said that the captain needs to set an example as a good ideal. He said, ‘You do not need the captain’s tag to become a leader in your dressing room. You need to set an example. You need to become a good ideal in Madhya Pradesh, both on the field and outside the field.
Venkatesh Iyer said, ‘I am not the captain of the Madhya Pradesh team but my opinion is respected. I like to live in an environment where every person – a new or experienced should have the freedom to have opinion. He said, “You should just have the freedom to give opinion and suggestions and they should be taken in the right spirit.”
Venkatesh, who joined KKR in 2021, was released by the team before last year’s auction but was bought back for Rs 23.75 crore after a tough fight in the auction with Royal Challengers Bangalore. The left -handed player has scored 1,326 runs in 51 IPL matches. He has played all his IPL matches for Knight Riders.
