Uk to suspend bilateral aid to rwanda over cone conflict: Britain said on Tuesday that it would stop some bilateral assistance given to Rwanda and impose other diplomatic restrictions on it due to Kigali’s role in the neighboring Congo crisis. Rwanda is currently under global pressure. He is accused of supporting the M3 Group, which has captured large parts and precious mineral reserves of Eastern Congo including Goma and Bukavu cities since January.
Kigali has refused to support this M3 Group, but said that his own soldiers are taking action against the hostile groups in Congo.
According to media reports, a statement issued by the British government said that UK will continue to take action until there is significant progress in ending enmity and all the Rwanda defense forces are returned from the Congo region.
Under the UK action – ending high -level attendance in programs organized by the Government of Rwanda, limiting business enrichment activity with Rwanda; Preventing direct bilateral financial assistance to the government of Rwanda, except the help of the poorest and weakest people.
The statement stated that the UK would coordinate with partners on potential new sanctions, suspend the future defense training assistance to Rwanda and review the export license for Rwanda Defense Force.
A British government spokesperson said, “Rwanda may be concerned about the safety concerns, but it is unacceptable to resolve them in a military manner. It can be only a political solution to this struggle.”
The spokesperson said, “We encourage the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) to join M33 as part of the inclusive talks. We will continue to review our policy.”
