Inspector Ranjit Singh, in -charge of Cybercrime Police Station, said that the incident came to light when a woman lodged a complaint and said that she was cheated by Rs 84 lakh through ‘digital arrest’. ‘Digital arrest’ is a new way of cyber fraud. In which the accused presents himself as CBI or custom officers and threatens to arrest people by making video calls in the name of fake international parcel of banned drugs.

The official said that an investigation was started by registering an FIR on the complaint of the woman and three accused were arrested. The arrested accused have been identified as Ram Singh, Akshay Kumar and Narendra Singh Chauhan. The official said that Akshay Kumar is a bank employee and Ram Singh is an account holder.
The accused are involved in many cases of fraud. One of his companions Umesh Mahajan was arrested by the Delhi Police on 30 July last year. At present, the interrogation of the accused is going on. There can be many big revelations in the inquiry.
