The cabinet is going to expand in Bihar only a few months before the assembly elections. Seven MLAs of BJP are going to become ministers in this cabinet expansion which is going to be held this evening. However, JDU has surprisingly decided not to join this cabinet expansion. That is, in this expansion, the MLA of JDU is not going to become a minister.
The effect of caste equation is clearly visible in this latest expansion. Out of 7 MLAs who will become ministers, 3 are backward, 2 extremely backward and 2 upper castes.
Among the MLAs who became ministers, BJP MLA from Darbhanga and Sanjay Saraogi of Vaishya caste are being made ministers. Jeevesh Mishra, MLA from Darbhanga’s webs, is also getting a place in the cabinet. Among the new ministers are Krishna Kumar Mantu, from Kurmi caste, Motilal Prasad, Teli caste, Raju Singh, Rajput community, Vijay Kumar Mandal, from Kewat community and Sunil Kumar, from Kushwaha caste.
The question is, what was the need of Nitish government to expand the cabinet just before the election?
Actually, the cabinet expansion in Bihar had been postponing for a long time. There was speculation on it for 11-12 months. Recently there was a discussion that now the cabinet expansion will take place after Kharmas. Now Kharmas has also been a month and a half. Now the budget session has also arrived. This will be the biggest session for the current government. After this, there will be no such session for the government, because elections are likely to be held in October-November.
Let us know that the budget session of Bihar is starting from February 28. In this budget session, the government wants to go with full power. And wants to show solidarity.
Therefore, there is a belief in the government that if there is a delay in the cabinet expansion, then the minister will not get time to work. Therefore, the government wants to use these 7-8 months to new ministers to work.
Aaj Tak correspondent Sujit Jha said that this cabinet expansion should have been done before Kharmas. But Nitish Kumar was on Pragati Yatra and could not get time to discuss it. But when BJP national president JP Nadda came to Patna on Tuesday and he met Nitish, it was agreed.
He said that the regional balance has also been taken care of in this expansion. The name of two people is currently going on from Darbhanga. There is a person from Araria.
Mantu Patel has got an opportunity from Saran-Chhapra. Significantly, on February 19, Mantu Patel organized a big Kurmi rally and showed his strength.
In Bihar, Kurmi is considered to be the vote of JDU, but this time the BJP has given Kurmi Mantu Patel a chance to post a minister. The Kushwaha community as Emperor Chaudhary is already in the cabinet but another Kushwaha Sunil Kumar has been given a chance. In this way, BJP has tried to help both ‘Love’-‘Kush’.
Why JDU is not becoming a minister
The question is also arising as to why JDU MLAs are not becoming ministers in this cabinet expansion. In fact, JDU’s quota is already filled in terms of number of members of the assembly parties. Based on 45 JDU MLAs, they could become as many ministers. This figure has already been completed. Its number is 13. So when the cabinet expansion was discussed between CM Nitish Kumar and JP Nadda, Nitish did not show much interest and Nitish gave the green signal for filling the number of vacant ministers.
After this, JP Nadda held a meeting of the BJP Core Committee and discussed the names of the MLAs to be made ministers. After the agreement was reached on this, the cabinet expansion was approved today.
