Investigating officers are focusing on debt as primary reasons. Accused Afan’s father is currently in Damamam, Saudi Arabia, but he has not been able to return home for seven years due to the end of visa and outstanding debt. The family went to meet him on a short -term visa a few months ago and was planning to sell property to repay his debt.
Superintendent of Police Sudarshan said that many organizations are trying to help Afan’s father back home. Allegedly, 11-12 people owed Rs 64 lakh on the family. The SP revealed that Afan had mortgaged a gold chain stolen from his grandmother to repay Rs 40,000 out of the borrowed Rs 74,000.
Afan is still hospitalized and has not been formally arrested. The SP said, ‘We have taken some statements from him in between. But detailed inquiry will take place only after registering his arrest.
The Superintendent of Police estimated that Afan would be released from the hospital in three days. A team of 25 officers is investigating three crime sites, while Afan’s mother is recovering. He also attacked him with a fatal attack.
