Uttarakhand glacier burst: Out of 57 Majdiers trapped in an avalanche that came near Badrinath and Mana villages in Uttarakhand, 32 have been rescued and taken out alive. The condition of some workers rescued by rescuing is said to be critical. He has been sent to the ITBP camp near Mana village.
The workers of the Border Roads Organization (BRO) were stranded in the height area near the frontier village Mana located in Chamoli district. Mana, about three kilometers from Badrinath, is the last village on the Indo-Tibet border which is situated at an altitude of 3200 meters. The rescue has been stopped at the moment due to bad weather.
Challenge became bad weather in rescue operation
District magistrate of Chamoli Sandeep Tiwari told that many teams have been engaged to save the laborers trapped in the snow, but the weather in these areas remains challenging. He said that there is no news of any casualty so far. Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami said that all efforts are being made to evacuate the workers trapped in the snow. He said that the disaster management team and the entire administration of the state are completely cautious.

Big updates so far
- Teams of Army, NDRF and SDRF have been deployed to save the workers. There is snow in the entire area. Bad weather has created difficulties for rescuers.
- The CM of Uttarakhand said that ITBP, Army and Air Force personnel and local officials are engaged in rescue operations. He said that due to bad weather and low visibility, the helicopter is not being rescued.
- The ITBP has stopped the rescue operation due to heavy snowfall. ITBP jawans have returned to their camp in Mana village.
- So far 32 laborers have been rescued. Still 25 laborers are stuck in snow. Tomorrow morning (1 March 2025) rescue operation will be started again. The snowfall started at 4 am, while the avalanche took place at 5 am.
- Union Home Minister Amit Shah spoke to the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand and came to know the condition of the people trapped after the incident of the glacier bursting. He said that the priority of the government is to evacuate all those who are out of reach. Defense Minister Rajnath Singh said that every effort is being made to save the trapped laborers using all the available resources.
- Due to avalanche, there are also laborers of Jharkhand among the snow workers. Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren said that BRO, India Tibet Border Police (ITBP) and other relief rescue operations are being carried out.
- It has been told by the Indian Army that the IBEX Brigade of the Indian Army has been fielded for the rescue operation. The Ibex Brigade is the only independent mountain brigade. This brigade is particularly trend for running operations in mountainous regions.
