New Delhi. South Africa would like to secure its place in the semi -finals by winning the final league match of Group B, keeping their dominance on Saturday in the final league match of Group B. India and New Zealand have already confirmed their place in the semi -finals from Group A but Australia, South Africa and Afghanistan are involved in this race from Group B.
The match between South Africa and Australia was rained. Both these teams have three points, while Afghanistan have two points. The England team had to face defeat in both their matches. In the match against England, South Africa’s upper hand looks a bit heavy as its team has done well in all three departments and most of its players are running in good form. On the other hand, England’s team is more dependent on Joe Root in batting.
The South African team has so far played only one match in the rain -affected tournament in which it defeated Afghanistan by a big margin of 107 runs. In this match, Ryan Ricelton scored a century, while captain Temba Bavuma, Rasi Van Dere Dusen and Eden Markram scored half -centuries, which South Africa scored 315 runs for six wickets while batting first and then dismissed Afghanistan for 208 runs.
South Africa’s team may have seen strong on paper and its performance in ICC competitions has been good but it has not been able to perform the expected in the last one year. South Africa suffered defeat in eight out of the last 12 ODIs. South Africa had failed to make it to the finals in the tri -series played in Pakistan before the Champions Trophy. In the match against England, he will have to maintain continuity in his performance as the team headed by Jose Butler will be committed to ending their campaign.
Except for the root, no England player looks full of confidence. Prior to the Champions Trophy, he had to face defeat in all matches in a three -match ODI series against India. His team will have to perform his best to break this order of defeat. In the last match against Afghanistan, Root played a brilliant innings of 120 runs but his other batsmen again failed to convert a good start into a big score. England had to face defeat to Australia due to the failure of the bowlers in their first match.
The teams are as follows:
England: Jose Butler (Captain), Jofra Archer, Gas Atkinson, Tom Banton, Harry Brook, Rehan Ahmed, Ben Docket, Jamie Overton, Jamie Smith, Liam Livingstone, Adil Rashid, Joe Root, Saqib Mahmud, Phil Salt, Mark Wood
