Stalin has called an all -party meeting on 5 March to discuss the future of Tamil Nadu.

Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin has appealed to the people of the state to have children as soon as possible. He said- Earlier we used to say, produce children comfortably, but now the situation has changed, so there is a need to have children immediately.

Stalin said, ‘Tamil Nadu’s successful family policy planning is now proving harmful for the state. Due to delimitation of population in the state, the Lok Sabha seats of the state may decrease, which will reduce the political representation of the state.

Stalin has called an all -party meeting on 5 March to discuss the future of Tamil Nadu. He appealed to all opposition parties to join it and said that we will have to unite and protect our rights on this issue.

In fact, Stalin came to attend the wedding anniversary of party secretary of Nagapattinam district on Monday. It was here that he appealed to the people of the state to have more children.

Family planning policy damage the state

Speaking after the cabinet meeting on 25 February, Stalin emphasized that the state is now in a state of loss by successfully implementing the family planning policy in Tamil Nadu. If delimitation is applied on the basis of population census, then Tamil Nadu will have to lose eight MPs. This will reduce the representation of Tamil Nadu in Parliament.

What is delimitation?

Delimitation means the process of fixing the limit of Lok Sabha or assembly seat. Commission is formed for delimitation. In the past, commissions have been formed in 1952, 1963, 1973 and 2002.

The delimitation process regarding Lok Sabha seats will start from 2026. In such a situation, there is a possibility of increasing about 78 seats in the 2029 Lok Sabha elections. The southern states have opposed population -based delimitation. Therefore, the government will move towards proportional delimitation, in which the framework to maintain population balance is being prepared.

Karnataka CM said- Home Minister’s statement is not trustworthy

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said on 27 February that the BJP is using delimitation as a weapon to silence the southern states. Home Minister Amit Shah’s statement is not full. In fact, Shah said on 26 February that not a single parliamentary seat in the southern states would be reduced due to delimitation.

He said that from the talk of the Home Minister, it seems that either he lacks information or is deliberately intended to harm the states of South including Karnataka, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Andhra Pradesh.

What will be the framework of delimitation?

Prior to the delimitation commission, the government has started work on framework. The existing system regarding representation will not be tampered with, but a broader framework is being considered keeping in mind the demographics balance.

What will be proportional to the proportional representation?

Tamil Nadu-Puducherry has 40 Lok Sabha seats. In Uttar Pradesh, 14 seats from the current 80 seats increase, while half of it is to increase 7 seats in Tamil Nadu-Puducherry. That is, the population is not the only option to increase the seat.

On the basis of population, seats will also increase in population control states in the same proportion as much seats will increase in Hindi Patti. There will be an MP in a population of 20 lakhs in a Lok Sabha and another place will be an MP at a population of 10-12 lakhs.

What will happen to minority dominated seats?

In the 85 Lok Sabha seats of the country, the population of minorities ranges from 20%to 97%. According to sources, Lok Sabha constituencies can be drained afresh under delimitation to maintain the demographic balance on these seats.

What will happen after women’s reservation?

Since 1977, the number of Lok Sabha seats has been freezed, but now it is bound to defrieve it after giving 33 percent reservation to women. States with effective control in population growth rate have warned that their seats will be opposed on this basis.
