This information was given by the Central Government in the Lok Sabha this year. The government had said that a total of 10,152 Indian citizens are imprisoned in 86 countries of the world. Most of the Indians are lodged in Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates jails.
Saudi, UAE and Nepal the highest Indian imprisonment
According to the report of the Ministry of External Affairs, a total of 2633 Indian prisoners are closed in Saudi Arabia jails headed by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. All of them are accused of Saudi law violation. After this, 2518 Indian prisoners are closed in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) jail at number two. At the same time, Nepal is at number three in this order, where most Indians are closed.
According to the report, 1317 Indians are imprisoned in Nepal jails. Most of them are accused of smuggling. After this, there are 288 Indians in Britain jails and a total of 169 Indians in the United States jails and about 3 thousand Indian citizens are lodged in the jails of many other countries of the world, including the names of Pakistan and Bangladesh. According to the central government, whenever an Indian citizen is arrested in any other country of the world, the first Ministry of External Affairs collects all the information about the person through the ambassador and finds out about his citizenship.

The Ministry of External Affairs is trying to protect the arrested person and he should be made available to him to fight the case in the concerned country.
