In the last ten years, the number of jobs in the country has increased rapidly. Union Labor Minister Mansukh Mandavia has informed that between 2014 and 2024, 17.1 crore new jobs have been created in the country. The special thing is that out of this, 4.6 crore people have got employment in 2024. It is claimed that the government’s effort has also reduced the unemployment rate and there has been a great increase in giving jobs to women. According to Mandavia, the unemployment rate has come down from 6% to 2023-24 of 2017-18 to 3.2%. The employment rate of women has increased from 22% to 40.3%.

Decline in unemployment rate
The Labor Minister says that the new policy of the government has strengthened the workforce of the country. Along with this, social security schemes have also improved the lives of people. According to ILO’s World Social Security Report 2024-26, social security coverage in India has doubled i.e. it has increased from 24.4% to 48.8%. Along with this, 30.67 crore unorganized laborers have been registered on the e -ram portal.

Mandavia has said that the e -ram portal has been made available in 22 Indian languages ​​and 12 major welfare schemes have been added to it. Gig workers have also been included in the PMJAY scheme. Apart from this, 10 new ESIC medical colleges have been approved to help the families of laborers and there are plans to create 10 new. The insured people under ESIC were 2.03 crore in 2014, which has increased to 3.72 crores in 2024. ESIC now has 165 hospitals and 1,590 dispensaries.

EPFO made modern
Labor and Employment Secretary Sumita Davra has informed that the Employees Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) has been modernized. In the last six and a half years, 6.2 crore new members have joined it. The pension system has been centralized, PF claims are starting to become auto-settles and the IT system has been strengthened. Davra also said that there has been a lot of progress in the field of technology. E -ram and National Career Service Portal are examples of this. Under the G20 study, there is a preparation to create a global benchmark of skills by 2026. Connecting women with platform ecosystem is also an important goal, so that their participation increases and they become self -sufficient.
