TMC Complaint Regarding EPIC Number: Before next year’s assembly elections in West Bengal, the Trinamool Congress and its leaders are raising questions on the Central Election Commission raising the issue of disturbances in the voter ID card. The Union Election Commission has also met the Trinamool Congress delegation on this issue.
Following the allegations of Mamta Banerjee and Trinamool Congress, the Central Election Commission has assured that the same number of complaints about voter ID cards across the country will be removed within 3 months.
What did TMC leaders say?
On behalf of Trinamool Congress leaders, it was said that the EPIC i.e. voter ID card of people living in other states of the country and the EPIC number of people living in West Bengal is the same. TMC had alleged that through this, an attempt would be made to rigged the election. After which the Central Election Commission, while denying the allegations of TMC, had replied that repetition in epic number is not mean fake or duplicate voter.
What did the Election Commission respond?
The Central Election Commission has issued an explanation that the propaganda that is being done about the epic number is not right, because the same epic number does not mean that he is a fake voter.
The Election Commission has said in its reply that even though the epic number of voters living in different states is the same, but information like assembly constituency, polling station is different, in such a situation, the matter is being introduced incorrectly. The Election Commission said that no matter what the epic number may be, but the voter can use their voter ID card only to vote at the polling station only in their state and their respective constituencies as its name is connected in the voter list of that region.
