Large action against drug addiction in Punjab … raids on 687 locations, 111 smugglers arrested – Big Action Against Drugs in Punjab 687 Locations Raed 111 Smugglers Arrested LCLCN

The Punjab Police raided 687 places across the state on Friday, carrying out a large -scale campaign against drug smuggling and liquor smuggling. During this, the police arrested 111 people. Punjab Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav said that more than 1 thousand policemen participated in this action and vehicles were intensively investigated at 84 entry and exit points in 10 districts.

Which districts conducted raids?

In fact, this search operation was carried out in 10 districts, which borders four other states and Chandigarh. Pathankot, Shri Muktsar Sahib, Fazilka, Ropar, SAS Nagar (Mohali), Patiala, Sangrur, Mansa, Hoshiarpur and Bathinda are the districts in which raids were conducted.

Vehicles check and seize

Punjab Special Director General of Police (Special DGP) Arpit Shukla said that the police investigated 3 thousand 938 vehicles, out of which 471 were challaned due to violation of traffic rules. While 11 vehicles were seized. Under the ‘Cordon and Search Operation’ of the police, 86 FIRs were registered across the state on Friday and 111 people were arrested. A total of 884 drug smugglers have been arrested so far this week.

Heavy amount of narcotics and cash seized

During the raid, the police seized a huge amount of drugs and cash related to the drug trade. In which 1.2 kg of heroin, 9.8 kg opium, 3.3 kg of ganja, 46 kg poppy (Poppy Husk), 7,091 drugs and injections and Rs 1.32 lakh cash have been recovered. More than 250 police teams participated in this campaign, which included more than 2 thousand policemen.

Education campaign against drugs

To increase public awareness against drugs, Punjab Police has planned to start a comprehensive 10-hour anti-draw awareness course in collaboration with Punjabi University, Patiala and Educational Multimedia Research Center (EMRC). DGP Gaurav Yadav said that this course has been prepared under the War Against Drugs Campaign. This will include lectures, audio-visual content and interactive sessions. It will be implemented in a formal and informal education system from the next academic session.

More strict orders on drug smugglers

Meanwhile, Punjab Minister Laljit Singh Bhullar held a meeting with police officers in Mansa. He said that the state government has given the police complete freedom to take strict legal action against the criminals involved in drug smuggling. Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has decided to make the state intoxicated within three months last week. The government and police administration are now throwing full strength to achieve this goal.
