Holashtak 2025: Holi festival is celebrated on Pratipada date of Chaitra month. Eight days before Holi, Holashtaks look. The position of the planets varies in these eight days. Also, during this time, doing auspicious work is also considered taboo. This time Holashtak is starting from 7 March i.e. today and it will conclude on 13 March on Holika Dahan and Holi will be celebrated on 14 March.

According to beliefs, if a person does a manic work during Holashtak, then he has to face many problems. Not only this, the shadow of discord, disease and premature death also hover in a person’s life. Therefore, the time of Holashtak is not considered auspicious.
Do not do this work during Holashtak
1. During this time, marriage, marriage, land worship, home entry or opening a new business is considered taboo.
2. According to the scriptures, with the onset of Holashtak, auspicious works like 16 rites like naming ceremonies, janeu rites, home entry, marriage ceremony are also stopped.
3. Any type of havan, yajna karma is also not performed in these days.
4. Apart from this, newly married people are advised to stay in the maiden in these days.
Importance of Holashtak (Holashtak Significance)
This eight -day time called Holashtak is considered a symbol of the power of devotion. It is said that if penance is done during this time, it is very auspicious. On Holashtak, it is custom to cut a branch of the tree and plant it in the ground. After that colorful clothes are tied on this branch. Please tell that this branch is considered to be the form of Prahlada.
Holashtak Katha (Holashtak Katha)
There is a popular story on Holashtak that Lord Shiva had consumed Kamdev on the day of Holashtak. Cupid had tried to dissolve the penance of Lord Shiva, due to which Mahadev became angry. During this time, he consumed the deity of work with his third eye. However, Cupid did not disturb the penance of Lord Shiva with wrong intentions. As soon as Kamdev’s death came to know about the death, the entire Devalok was immersed in mourning. After this, Cupid’s wife Devi Rati prayed to Lord Bholenath and asked for his desire to bring her dead husband back, after which Lord Shiva revived Kamdev.
