Apple switched on the screen only on the pill shaped cutout from the notch which is necessary for all face ID sensors. Foldable iPad is expected to introduce more immersive visual experiences with this under-display technology. Here for the first time under-display face ID has been connected to Apple’s foldable device.
The analyst firm DSCC estimates that Apple will launch an 18.8 -inch foldable iPad Pro with OLED display in 2027. Meanwhile, the supply chain analyst Ming-Chi Kuo suggests that LG will start production on a large scale of display panel for foldable MacBooks with 20.2 inches or 18.8 inch screen at the end of 2025. This report highlights the apple’s plan to adopt a large foldable device as well as to reduce portable computing.
Wall Street Journal has also reported that Apple is working on a foldable device that will serve as a laptop, which will provide 19 inch display when it opens. Mark Gurman of Bloomberg says that Apple is preparing a large foldable iPad, whose focus is on ending the crease, a problem that the Android smartphone makers have not yet been able to fix.
In addition to the Apple foldable iPad, a book-style foldable is also working on the iPhone, which is expected to be launched later next year. Due to lack of space, the touch ID will be integrated into the side button in place of face ID in this device, which is similar to the recent iPad model.
