New Delhi. England fast bowler Mark Wood has been ruled out of all formats of cricket for 4 months after knee surgery. He suffered a ligament injury during the recently ended ICC Champions Trophy 2025. Wood, 35, is also difficult to play in the five-match Test series between India and England starting on June 20. He suffered a left knee injury during England’s group stage match against Afghanistan. And for some time he was also out of the field.
Mark Wood tried to bowl in the rest of that match but gave 50 runs without taking wickets. The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) have said that the scan showed an injury to the ligament and he underwent surgery on Wednesday. The ECB also said that Wood was struggling with his knee problem for the last one year. And he suffered during the match against Afghanistan. He also underwent the same knee surgery in 2019.

Mark Wood said in a statement issued by ECB, “It is very sad to be out for such a long time after playing in all formats for England since the beginning of last year. But I am confident that whenever I return, my return will be great. I want to thank surgeons, doctors, staff, my England team colleagues and coaches. Certainly, our fans also. I can’t wait to come back and make a big contribution for the team in 2025.
