Weather update: The weather is changing rapidly in the entire country including North India. Recently, there was light to moderate rains in Delhi and surrounding areas, which gave some relief. However, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has now issued an alert for scorching heat and heatwave in many states of the country. States like West Bengal, Odisha, Jharkhand, Karnataka and Maharashtra are expected to be more than 40 degrees Celsius in the next few days.
According to IMD, warning has been issued in the western districts of West Bengal. The Ganga region has been expected to rain from March 20, which can provide some relief. The Meteorological Department says that heatstroke can run in Purulia, Bankura and West Bardhaman districts till Tuesday (March 18). At the same time, the temperature in Kolkata was recorded at 33.7 degrees Celsius, which is close to normal, but the minimum temperature has increased.
Orange alert issued in Telangana
IMD has issued heatwave alert for five districts of Telangana for the next two days. These include Adilabad, Jagityal, Komaram Bhim Asifabad, Manchareal and Rajna Sirsila districts. The maximum temperature in these districts can reach 41 to 44 degrees Celsius. The Meteorological Department has advised people to stay active and avoid exit in the afternoon.
Heat outbreak in Jharkhand and Odisha
The effect of heat is also being seen in Jharkhand. The temperature in seven districts here has crossed 40 degrees Celsius. Daltonganj, Bokaro and Jamshedpur recorded the highest temperature. The temperature in Jharsuguda has also crossed 40 degrees Celsius in Odisha. A warning of heatwave has also been issued in Sambalpur and Mayurbhanj districts.
Heat increased in Maharashtra and Karnataka
The temperature was recorded at 41.4 degrees Celsius in Chandrapur, Maharashtra, which was included in the hottest places in the country. The temperature in Bramhapuri, Solapur and Wardha was also recorded more than 40 degrees Celsius. On the other hand, the temperature in Karnataka is also increasing rapidly. Annapur Hobli village in Kalburgi district recorded a temperature of 42.8 degrees Celsius. The state government has advised people not to go out between 12 noon and 3 pm.
The Meteorological Department and the Ministry of Health have advised people to drink sufficient amount of water to avoid the heat, wear light colored clothes and not stay for long in the strong sunlight. Especially children and the elderly need to take special care. In the coming days, all states have been kept on alert to protect against heatwave and heat.
