Nagpur violence: Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati said on Tuesday (March 18, 2025) amidst the demand of some right -wing organizations to remove the tomb of Mughal emperor Aurangzeb in Maharashtra, that it is not right to damage someone’s grave, as it is deteriorating peace and harmony in the state. Mayawati said that the government should take strict action against such unruly elements. He also demanded action against anti -social elements in the violence affected Nagpur.
Shiv Sena (Ubatha) Rajya Sabha member Priyanka Chaturvedi also targeted the Maharashtra government led by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Monday (17 March 2025) in Nagpur. Chaturvedi claimed that Maharashtra is being taken towards making an unnecessary for strategically investment, so that the neighboring state can help Gujarat to benefit.
Violence erupted as rumors spread
Officials said the violence erupted in the Chitnis Park area of Central Nagpur at around 7.30 pm on Monday evening when a rumor erupted that a community scripture was burnt during the agitation by a right -wing organization to remove Aurangzeb’s tomb. During this time the police were thrown stones, injuring six common citizens and three policemen. Police arrested 15 people during a search operation in various areas of the Mahaal area of Nagpur.
‘It is not right to break anyone’s grave and tomb’
Mayawati said in a post on ‘X’, “It is not right to damage and break the tomb and tomb etc. in Maharashtra, because it is deteriorating mutual brotherhood, peace and harmony etc. The government should take strict action in such cases, especially against the chaotic elements of Nagpur, otherwise the situation may not be very bad, which will not be good. ”The former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh said that the government should take strict action against the miscreants and chaotic elements responsible for Nagpur violence, otherwise the situation may be very bad.
