Raisina dialogue 2025: Foreign Minister S Jaishankar firmly put India’s favor firmly in Raisina Dialogue 2025 on Tuesday (March 18, 2025). He emphasized the need to improve the historical omission of the United Nations on the Kashmir issue and the need to improve the global system.
In fact, Jaishankar said that the United Nations has made a big mistake by not condemning the illegal occupation of Pakistan in Kashmir and the attackers (Pakistan) and the victim (India) were placed in the same category.
United Nations mistake on Kashmir
Jaishankar said that India has faced the longest illegal occupation in the world after World War II. Jammu and Kashmir, including Gilgit-Baltistan, merged with India in 1947. Pakistan attacked and illegally occupied the Indian region and has maintained seats there for decades. This attack in the United Nations was converted into a “dispute”, causing injustice to India.
Question on the fairness of the United Nations
Jaishankar said that when India went to the United Nations, the invader (Pakistan) and the victim (India) were equal. He questioned who was guilty of this. UK, Canada, Belgium, Australia and America? These countries tried to justify Pakistan’s aggression. Jaishankar said that global rules should not be applied selectively.
Improved and strong United Nations required
The Foreign Minister insisted that it is necessary to make the United Nations fair and effective. He said, “We need a strong but fair United Nations. Global standards should be implemented equally to all. We need a stable international system so that no country can take advantage of chaos.”
Jaishankar’s criticism on double standards
Jaishankar questioned the global double parameters without naming Pakistan. He said, “There is a ban on military rule in Myanmar, but similar cases are ignored in West Asia. The global power balance has changed for the last eight decades, so a new system needs to be needed. We should clearly discuss a separate global system.”
