The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested sub-inspector Rahul Malik posted at Delhi Police’s Cyber Police Station Rohini taking a bribe of Rs 2.5 lakh. This bribe was transported through hawala through many operators of Mumbai, Tamil Nadu and many operators in Delhi.
How was the disclosure?
According to sources, the CBI had received a complaint that Sub-Inspector Rahul Malik had demanded a bribe in exchange for resolving a case. After confirming the complaint, the investigating agency laid a trap and caught the accused police officer red handed. CBI investigation revealed that Rahul Malik did not take the bribe amount directly, rather it was transferred through hawala operators through several levels, so that the transaction could not be tracked.
