Indian Foreign Service (IFS) officer Nidhi Tiwari has been appointed as the new private secretary of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The official announcement of this appointment approved by the appointment committee of the cabinet has been made by the Department of Personnel and Training (DOPT) on Monday.
According to the order of March 29, Nidhi Tiwari will take a new responsibility in the Prime Minister’s Office, moving away from her current role. His tenure will remain connected to the tenure of the existing administration or until any further instruction is given. Nidhi Tiwari is currently working as Deputy Secretary in the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).
Nidhi Tiwari, an IFS officer of 2014 batch, is originally from Mahmurganj in PM Modi’s Lok Sabha constituency Varanasi. He secured 96th rank in the Civil Services Examination in 2013. He has worked as Assistant Commissioner in Varanasi before joining the Indian Foreign Service.
He has been working as a deputy secretary in the PMO since 6 January 2023 after joining as Under Secretary in 2022. Before his tenure in the PMO, he worked in the Ministry of External Affairs especially in the Division of International and International Security Affairs.
Her expertise in the international relationship has been important in the PMO, especially in the ‘Foreign and Security’ work where she reported directly to the National Security Advisor Ajit Doval.
