A big update has come out on Friday in the case of former Madhya Pradesh Transport Department constable Saurabh Sharma. The team of Enforcement Directorate i.e. ED has reached Saurabh’s house and office in Bhopal and Gwalior. Lokayukta and ED of Income Tax Department are busy investigating this matter.
ED’s search is going on with CRPF jawans in the house and office of Saurabh Sharma, who is absconding since the Lokayukta raid, located in Arera Colony E-7. Whereas the agency has also raided Saurabh’s ancestral house located in Vinay Nagar Sector-2 in Gwalior. Saurabh Sharma’s house is in the posh areas of both the cities.
In fact, Saurabh Sharma, the main accused in the Lokayukta raid case, is currently absconding along with his wife Divya. His lawyer had filed a petition in the court for anticipatory bail, but the court rejected it.
Let us tell you that in the raid of Lokayukta police, movable assets worth Rs 7.98 crore have been found with former constable Saurabh Sharma, which includes Rs 2.87 crore in cash and 234 kg of silver.
The top official of the anti-corruption Lokayukta police said that the Lokayukta police had searched the residence and office of Saurabh Sharma on 18 and 19 December.
Lokayukta Director General of Police Jaideep Prasad said that Saurabh Sharma’s father RK Sharma was a government doctor and he died in 2015.
The IPS officer said that after this, Saurabh Sharma was appointed to the post of constable in the State Transport Department on compassionate grounds in 2015 and he took voluntary retirement in 2023.
He said Saurabh Sharma used the money earned through corrupt means to amass huge assets, including setting up schools and hotels in the names of his mother Uma, wife Divya, relatives and close associates Chetan Singh Gaur and Sharad Jaiswal.
The Income Tax Department has also seized cash and gold from Sharma’s associates Gaur. Prasad said that the bank details and land documents found during the search are being examined.
