New Delhi. The second T20 between Sri Lanka and New Zealand was played on Monday 30 December. New Zealand registered a spectacular victory in this match. After aggressive batting, due to the brilliant performance of the bowlers led by Jacob Duffy, New Zealand took an unassailable 2-0 lead by defeating Sri Lanka by 45 runs in the second T20 International of the three-match series on Monday.

New Zealand bowled out Sri Lanka for 141 runs in 19.1 overs after scoring 186 runs for five wickets with the help of useful innings from Tim Robinson (41), Mark Chapman (42) and Mitchell Hay (41 not out). New Zealand had earlier won Sri Lanka by eight runs in the opening T20 International of the series. Duffy, who took three wickets for 21 runs two days ago, took four wickets for 15 runs in this match. After taking the important wickets of Sri Lankan opener Pathum Nissanka (37) and Kushal Perera (48) in the 16th over, he also showed the way to the pavilion to Wanindu Hasaranga (1) and Mahish Teekshana (0) within three balls.

Matt Henry (two wickets for 31 runs) took wickets on consecutive balls in the 19th over while Jack Foulkes dismissed Binura Fernando (three) to end Sri Lanka’s innings with five balls remaining. Earlier, Robinson hit three fours and two sixes in his 34-ball innings. Chapman hit two fours and as many sixes in his 29-ball innings.

Wicketkeeper batsman Hay made a big difference in the match by hitting four fours and two sixes in his unbeaten innings of 19 balls. He was chosen ‘Player of the Match’ for this aggressive innings. The third T20 will be played on January 2. Sri Lanka will try to avoid a clean sweep in this match.
