New Delhi. Former Indian coach Ravi Shastri believes that Virat Kohli still has 3-4 years of cricket left in him but considering his long-standing struggle with form and technique in this format, captain Rohit Sharma should be considered for the ongoing series against Australia. Later there may be a need to assess your future. India’s senior batsmen Rohit and Kohli are facing criticism due to their poor performance during the ongoing five-Test series against Australia.
Shastri told Star Sports, “I think Virat will play for some time. Forget the way he is getting out, or other things, whatever. I think he will play for the next three or four years. As far as Rohit is concerned, he will have to take a decision. I think his footwork is not the same as before. He probably delays playing the shot many times. They will have to decide at the end of the series.”
IND vs AUS: After the defeat, captain Rohit Sharma admitted his mistake, said- the way to win the match…
Rohit has scored only 31 runs in five innings at an average of 6.20 and during this he scored 3, 6, 10, 3 and 9 runs which is the lowest average of any foreign captain on Australian soil. Despite the century in the Perth Test, Kohli’s performance lacks consistency and so far he has played innings of 5, 100 not out, 7, 11, 3, 36 and 5 runs in the series.
Former all-rounder Irfan Pathan believes that if Rohit had not been the captain of India, based on his current form he would not have got a place in the playing field. Pathan said, “A player who has scored almost 20,000 runs. Yet the way Rohit is struggling now, it seems that his form is not supporting him at all. What is happening now is that he is the captain, so he is playing. If he had not been the captain, perhaps he would not have been playing right now.
