Rohit, who was struggling to score runs himself, said in the press conference after the match, “It is mentally disturbing when you are not able to do what you have come to do. This is quite disappointing. There are ways to win matches and we failed to find ways to win matches here. We wanted to fight till the end but unfortunately we could not do so.

The Indian captain further said, “We had taken six wickets of Australia for 90 runs. We knew that things would not be easy for us but we wanted to show spirit even in difficult circumstances. However we failed to do so. After going to my room, I was wondering what else we could have done as a team. Whatever chances we created we wasted. He fought hard. Especially their partnership for the last wicket, perhaps that partnership took the match away from us.

He said, “We knew that scoring 340 runs would not be easy. We tried to set a platform and save wickets for the last two sessions, but they also bowled well. We wanted to reach the target, but we could not prepare a platform for it.
