Dubai. India’s star spinner Deepti Sharma has made it to the top 5 in the ICC rankings. The spinner had bowled amazingly in the recent ODI series played against West Indies. Due to this brilliant performance, she has moved up one place to fifth position in the ICC women’s ODI bowling rankings. Deepti, who made it to the top five, now has 665 rating points and is 12 points behind Marizanne Kapp of South Africa who is in fourth place.
27 year old Deepti had taken eight wickets in two matches against West Indies. In the last match, he broke the back of the opposing team’s batting by taking six wickets for 31 runs. India made a clean sweep of West Indies by winning this ODI series 3-0 in Vadodara.
Talking about the ranking of batsmen, Jemimah Rodrigues is close to making it to the top 20 with 537 points. After playing innings of 29 and 52 runs in the series, he is at 22nd position with the gain of four places. Aggressive batsman Richa Ghosh has also gained seven places at 41st position. He has 448 rating points. West Indies’ Chenelle Henry has jumped 21 places to 65th position after scoring a half-century in the third ODI.
India’s star opener Smriti Mandhana (720 points), who scored two half-centuries in the series, however, slipped by one place to third position. South Africa’s Laura Wolwart (773) and Sri Lanka’s Chamri Atapattu (733) are ahead of them. Indian captain Harmanpreet Kaur is at 13th position with a loss of three places. Hayley Mathews, who scored the 7th ODI century of her career in Vadodara, has moved up six places to seventh place in the batting rankings.
