ICC Awards 2024: Not one or two, but four Indian cricketers in the race for ICC Awards, Bumrah is facing competition from 3 batsmen

New Delhi. The year 2024 brought celebrations for Indian cricket and also disappointed at times. In June we won the T20 World Cup and by November we also suffered a historic defeat from New Zealand. Now they are trailing 1-2 in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. If this year Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Harmanpreet Kaur disappointed, then cricketers like Jasprit Bumrah, Smriti Mandhana won the match with their performance and also won applause. Due to this, 4 Indian cricketers have been nominated in different categories of ICC Awards. Jasprit Bumrah has been nominated in two categories. The winner will be selected by voting.

Bumrah can get two awards
The International Cricket Council (ICC) has nominated Jasprit Bumrah for the Cricketer of the Year 2024 and Test Cricketer of the Year 2024 awards. Cricketer of the Year is chosen on the basis of performance in all three formats. Bumrah is being challenged for this award by three batsmen Joe Root, Travis Head and Harry Brook. Along with Bumrah, Joe Root, Kamindu Mendis and Harry Brook are in the race for the Test Cricketer of the Year 2024 award.

Arshdeep Singh in the race for T20 Cricketer of the Year
Fast bowler Arshdeep Singh has been included in the race for the ICC T20 Cricketer of the Year Award. Babar Azam of Pakistan, Travis Head of Australia and Sikandar Raza of Zimbabwe are included in this race. Arshdeep played an important role in India winning the T20 World Cup this year. He took 36 wickets in 18 T20 matches in 2024.

Smriti Mandhana in the race for Women’s ODI Cricketer of the Year
Indian women’s team vice-captain Smriti Mandhana has been included in the race for the Women’s ODI Cricketer of the Year Award. She is being challenged for this award by Annabel Sutherland of Australia, Laura Wolvaardt of South Africa and Chamari Atapattu of Sri Lanka. India’s Shreyanka Patil is also included in the nomination list of ICC Awards. Apart from them, Scotland’s Sasika Horley, South Africa’s Anne Derksen and Ireland’s Freya Sargent are also in the race for this award.
