Melbourne. After starting with a century against Australia, Indian team’s star batsman Virat Kohli has worked on his shortcomings in the last few innings. Before the Boxing Day Test, he admitted that he could not perform disciplinedly in the last two-three innings of the Border Gavaskar Trophy. He will take some time at the crease to play his strokes in the remaining two Test matches.

Kohli has been out on balls going outside the off stump in most of the innings. Apart from scoring a century in the first Test in Perth, he has scored only 26 runs in the remaining five innings. Kohli told ‘Fox Sports’ before the start of the Boxing Day Test, “The last two-three innings were not what I wanted. I am not able to perform in a disciplined manner. This kind of challenge comes in Test cricket.

He said, “The pitches are much faster than the last time we played here.” This requires playing in a different way and I enjoy facing different challenges. There is a need to settle down on the field and once settled on the crease, you will have to show your natural game. It is important to respect the situation.

Kohli said, “We have played good cricket at MCG. Last time we won here and in 2022 also. It has to be understood what is the situation of the series and this will remove the pressure. We have to perform well here and take the lead before the Sydney Test.
