If you play well then there will be no need for ‘PR’… MS Dhoni told – how are the preparations for IPL going on?

New Delhi. Former captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni, who won the World Cup twice for India, believes that there is no need for public relations (PR) if you keep playing good cricket. Dhoni recently talked about his two long careers in an interview. Dhoni told how his managers often suggested taking advantage of social media for public relations but he always stayed away from it.

MS Dhoni said in the recent episode of ‘Trade Talks’ of ‘Eurogrip Tyres’, ‘I have never been a big fan of social media. Many managers worked with me and they used to advise me to use social media. He said, ‘I started playing in 2004. At that time Twitter and Instagram were becoming popular and managers were giving various arguments saying that you should do some PR. My only answer to this was that if I play good cricket then I do not need PR.

MS Dhoni said, ‘It was always that if I have something to share (for social media), I will do it. I don’t stress about who has how many followers, who is doing what because I know that if I take care of cricket, everything else will happen automatically.

43-year-old Dhoni, who said goodbye to international cricket in 2020, is about to start preparations to play in the upcoming (18th season) of the Indian Premier League. He admitted that maintaining fitness at this stage of age is quite challenging.

The former captain of Chennai Super Kings said, ‘I am not as fit as before. To stay fit, you need to have a lot of control over what you eat. I am doing very special work to stay fit for cricket. I am not a fast bowler. Therefore my needs are not that high.

Dhoni said, ‘It really helps me to play a lot of sports between eating and going to the gym. So whenever I get time, I like to play many different sports like tennis, badminton, football. Games keep me busy. This is the best way to maintain fitness.

Dhoni, considered one of India’s most successful captains, does not miss international cricket because he feels that he has played his role in making the country proud through this game. He said, ‘I thought I would get more time, but it is a bit disappointing that I did not get more time. I don’t miss international cricket anymore because I always believe that you take your decisions after thinking.

He said, ‘Once you have taken the decision, there is no point in thinking about it. So whatever I have been able to do for my country, I am very happy by the grace of God. Dhoni gave the credit for his success in life to his parents and close friends. He said, ‘My parents had to sacrifice a lot. I think a lot of the discipline I have today is because of my parents. Friends are also always important.
