New Delhi. Indian cricket team’s star batsman Virat Kohli got embroiled in controversies on the first day of the Boxing Day Test. He deliberately hit 19-year-old opener Sam Costance, who was debuting for Australia, during the match. When Virat Kohli appeared before the match referee after the end of the first day’s play, he admitted his mistake but could not escape the fine as per ICC rules.
Virat Kohli has been fined 20 percent of his match fee and has also been given one demerit point. This punishment has been given to him for the on-field clash with Sam Costas on the first day of the fourth Test being played against Australia in Melbourne. There was a short but heated argument between Kohli and 19-year-old debutant Costas.
