The Congress has targeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi after Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh on Tuesday apologized for the caste conflict in the state. Congress asked why PM Modi cannot go there (Manipur) and do this, while he keeps traveling across the country and the world.

Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh has accused the PM of deliberately postponing his visit to Manipur and said that the people of Manipur cannot understand their neglect by the Prime Minister.

Congress targeted

He said in his ex-post that why can’t the Prime Minister go to Manipur and say the same thing there? He has deliberately avoided visiting the state from May 4, 2023, while he travels across the country and the world. The people of Manipur cannot understand this neglect.

He made this comment a few hours after CM Biren Singh apologized for the caste conflict in Manipur.

CM apologized

CM N. Biren Singh apologized to the people of the state and said that I want to apologize for whatever happened in the state. Many people lost their loved ones and many had to leave their homes. I am sorry and want to apologise, but after seeing relative peace in the last three-four months, I am hopeful that normalcy will be restored in the coming year.

“Whatever happened is done… I want to appeal to all the communities to forgive their past mistakes and start life afresh by living together in a peaceful and prosperous Manipur,” Singh said in Imphal.

‘Reduction in firing incidents’

The Chief Minister also claimed that there has been a decline in firing incidents in the state in the last 20 months since the caste conflict started in May 2023. Let us tell you that since May 2023, more than 250 people have died in caste violence in Manipur and thousands of people have become homeless.
