- NIA Claims 100 Per Cent Conviction Rate In 2024: 68 Convictions Secured In 25 Cases

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) said on Tuesday that it arrested 210 accused in 2024. With this, 100% conviction rate was achieved by proving the guilt of 68 accused in 25 cases. This is a record breaking achievement of the agency.
NIA had registered 80 cases under different categories of crimes, in which 210 accused were arrested. In 2024, 27 absconding criminals were also caught. Apart from this, charge sheet was filed against 408 accused.
At the same time, as part of its efforts to eliminate terrorist, gangster and other criminal networks, the agency attached a total of 137 properties worth Rs 19.57 crore in 2024.
Most of the 80 cases were related to leftist extremism.
Out of 80 cases registered, 28 were of leftist extremism. In this category, 12 charge sheets were filed against 64 charges. After this, 18 cases were related to insurgency in Northeast, 7 cases were related to Jihad in Jammu and Kashmir, 6 cases were explosions, 5 cases were related to human trafficking, 4 other cases were related to Jihad. Four cases were Khalistani cases and two were ISIS Jihadi cases. One case each was registered in gangster, cyber terrorism, fake currency and other categories.
NIA searched 662 places in different cases
Overall, NIA conducted 662 searches in all types of cases this year. Of these, 101 searches were conducted in foreign-related Khalistani terror cases, while 14 people were arrested. Within a few months of the murder of VHP leader Vikas Prabhakar alias Vikas Bagga, the NIA filed a charge sheet against Pakistan-based Babbar Khalsa International chief Wadhwa Singh alias Babbar and five other terrorists.
