The hearing in the Supreme Court has been postponed for 2 weeks on the petition of the Masjid Committee regarding the well near the royal Jama Masjid in Sambhal. Senior advocate Huaifa Ahmadi, appearing for the committee, said that its major is in custody, so the reply has not been filed. On this, the court said that the lawyers of the mosque committee should meet them in the jail and get their answers filed.

During the hearing, the UP government said that the well is completely out of the disputed building. At the same time, the lawyer of the mosque committee claimed that some part of it is inside the mosque. On this, the court said that the mosque committee and administration should have talked to the resolve.

The lawyer of the Masjid Committee also claimed that the well is covered with cement. Masjid has been using its water through the management motor. Hearing this, Chief Justice Sanjeev Khanna said that it is not right to cover the well. Other people should also be allowed to use it. Hujifa Ahmadi, appearing for the committee, said that the problem is that people of other religions will worship there.

What is the matter?
There is a legal dispute about the Harihar temple of Sambhal’s royal mosque. The Supreme Court has put an interim stay on the proceedings of the lower court. Meanwhile, the Masjid Committee filed a petition against the search and excavation of ancient wells in Sambhal. The mosque side specifically demanded to maintain the status quo on the well near the campus. The committee said that by digging the well and calling it the well of the temple, worship will start there. On January 10, the Supreme Court had stayed the notification of the municipality, which called the well near the royal Jama Masjid in Sambhal, the well of the municipality.

UP government reply
The UP government has filed a reply and described the well near the royal Jama Masjid in Sambhal as one of the 19 ancient wells. The government has said that its plan has been renovated by all these wells. This will give a boost to tourism in Sambhal. The state government has also said that the well is on public land. The claim to describe him as part of the mosque is false.
