New Delhi. 13 Indian players, including Piyush Chawla, Siddharth Kaul and Ankit Rajput, have registered their names for the auction for the T20 League of South Africa. Indian players are among 784 players for the fourth edition of the South African T20 League. The players’ auction in the SA20 league will be held on 9 September. According to the instructions of the Board of Control for Cricket in India, all Indian players have either retired or they have stopped playing for India or IPL.
Among the 13 players of India, Mahesh Ahir (Gujarat), Sarul Kanwar (Punjab), Anurait Singh Kathuria (Delhi), Nikhil Jaga (Rajasthan), Mohammad Fadh (not mentioned by the state), KS Naveen (Tamil Nadu), Ansari Maroof, Imran Khan (UPCA), Venkatesh Galipley, and Atul Yadav (UPCA) besides Piyush Chawla (UPCA), Piyush Chawla (Punjab) Rajput is the Indian player who has registered his name. However, many of these names will be excluded before the auction.
The base price of all Indian players is 200,000 rand. However, Piyush Chawla’s reserve price is 1,000,000 rand. Imran Khan’s base value is 500,000 rand. Six franchisees have a total of US $ 7.4 million purse to spend 84 available slots at the Johannesburg auction. SA20 had earlier announced that teams for season 4 would be allowed by a wildcard player – either a foreign or South African cricketer, whose salary will be outside the salary cap.
Only one Indian player Dinesh Karthik has played in this league first. He represented Parl Royals in the previous season. Then he retired from all forms of cricket, including IPL. The register also consists of 40 Pakistani players, including some famous names of the current or former national team like Azam Khan, Imam-ul-Haq, Abrar Ahmed and Symme Ayub.
Interestingly, six SA 20 franchisees Mi Cape Town, Jengel Super Kings, Durban Super Giants, Sunrisers Eastern Cape, Parl Royals and Pretoria Capitals are owned by all Indian businessmen, especially IPL team owners. These franchises have never included any Pakistani player in their teams during the first three seasons.
More than 150 players of England have registered their names. There are also many international players, such as Jason Roy and Alex Hales. The fourth season of the league will run from 26 December to 25 January. MI Cape Town is the current champion.
